Profile

During Daniel's two headships over seven years, Ofsted recognised that he ‘worked tirelessly to develop the school’s effectiveness’ (2016) and he had ‘developed a robust system…for monitoring the impact of the curriculum’ (2021). Supporting staff to improve in their roles, while maintaining high expectations, is a particular characteristic to Daniels work in schools.

Since leaving his last headteacher role in 2021, Daniel has worked as an Educational Advisor supporting schools and learning partnerships with curriculum monitoring and development, embedding school wide formative assessment strategies, delivered webinars on leadership and the primary History curriculum, and has also coached and mentored special needs staff in a variety of settings.

Daniel has a strong background in Special Educational Needs. As a previously qualified SENCo, he also led the DfE Opportunity Area Strand for Special Needs in West Somerset between 2017 and 2021 leading to the raising of standards and outcomes for SEND pupil provision across 18 schools. Furthermore, Daniel is a tutor for the NASENCO Award, and mentor for EYFS staff completing the new DfE funded EYSENCo qualification.

As an ILM Level 7 qualified Executive Coach and Mentor, Daniel passionately believes that supporting school staff towards individual and collective goals can lead to rapid school improvement.
