SC02 Learning Science Outside the Classroom
Overview
This two-hour practical session will enable you to explore the potential for extending the use of your local area to engage children in 'working scientifically' outdoors. This course can be tailored to suit individual school grounds and environments. You will have the opportunity to maximise the potential of your outdoor learning environment for your science curriculum.School Impact
By the end of the course, you will:• Map out the breadth of opportunities your outdoor environment provides for developing skills, knowledge, and understanding in science.
• Develop a whole-school approach to teaching and learning science in the outdoor environment.
• Identify ways in which any school's locality can be quickly and easily utilised effectively throughout the year.
• Have planned a range of outdoor practical inquiry lessons directly related to your science curriculum to take back and implement.
• Understand how learning outdoors can stimulate, engage, and benefit children's and staff well-being.
This two-hour session can be delivered for your school, your cluster of schools, or a MAT.
